平野 公崇

東京藝術大学在学中、第7回日本管打楽器コンクールで第１位。卒業後、パリ国立高等音楽院に入学、サクソフォン科、室内楽科、即興演奏科を最優秀の成績で卒業。同音楽院在学中にJ=Mロンデックス国際コンクールを制して日本人サクソフォニスト初の国際コンクール優勝者となり、フランス国立ボルドー・アキテーヌ管の定期演奏会に出演、Sud-Ouest紙の絶賛を浴び華やかなフランス・デビューを果たす。日本では2000年、現代作品と即興のみで構成された異色のアルバム「ミレニアム」で鮮烈なデビューを果たす。読響、新日フィル、大フィル、札響、広響等オーケストラとの共演多数。また、山下洋輔、塩谷哲、アキコ・グレースらジャズメンとの共演も多い。フランス、ドイツ、スペイン等の音楽祭におけるコンサートは毎回好評を博し、その出演を待望する多くのファンを獲得している。

日本テレビ「深夜の音楽会」、テレビ朝日「題名の無い音楽会」、ＮＨＫクラシック倶楽部、名曲アルバム、大和証券ＣＭ、ＤＶＤ「英詩紀行」等への出演や楽曲提供等多数。特に、日本テレビ 「深夜の音楽会」委嘱作品「７つの絵～有元利夫に捧ぐ」では作曲家としても高い評価を受ける。同作品は国内外での再演が続き、現在番組のオープニングテーマ曲として使われている。

日本管打楽器コンクール、大阪国際室内楽コンクール、全日本吹奏楽コンクール等の審査員を務める。洗足学園において日本初の即興演奏の授業を始め、現在は東京藝術大学でも同授業が開設されている。

東京藝術大学、エリザベト音楽大学、東邦音楽大学、洗足学園音楽大学非常勤講師。フランスのギャップ国際大学およびアカデミー・ハバネラ講師。

Masataka Hirano is a talented saxophonist who can play wide range of music from contemporary, classical, improvisation, and even jazz. While he was studying in the Tokyo University of the Arts, he won the 1st place in the 7th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition. After graduating from the Tokyo University of the Arts in 1992, he entered the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique in Paris in 1995. He won Unanimous Premier Prix in the saxophone course (1997), in the chamber music course (1998), and in the improvisation course (1999) at the graduation.

In 1990 Hirano won the 1^st prize at Japan Wind and Percussion Competition.  In 1996 he won the 1^st prize at Jean=Marie Londex International Competition in France. He is the first Japanese saxophonist who won the 1st prize at international competitions. He played with Orchestra National Bordeaux Aquitaine and has received fabulous reviews during his debut tour in France.

In 2000, Hirano released his debut album “Millennium” which is focused on improvisation and contemporary music. He has performed with different orchestras such as Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, and Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra.

In addition, he also co-stared with renowned jazz pianists such as Yosuke Yamashita, Satoru Shionoya, Akiko Grace, and many other artists of different instruments. He has many appearances in the music festivals in France, Germany, and Spain. These concerts are well-received and a lot of fans are always looking forward to his performances every time.

He and his music have been featured in Nihon TV’s “Shinya No Ongakukai (Concert in the Midnigt)”, TV Asahi’s “Daimei no nai Ongakukai” (Concert without Theme), NHK Classic Club, NHK’s Meikyoku Album (Album of Masterpieces),  TV commercial footage of Daiwa Group, DVD “Eishi Kiko”, and many others.

Hirano has received high acclaim and positive feedbacks as a composer when his first orchestra piece “Seven Tableaux – dedicated to Toshio Arimoto” was featured in Nihon TV’s “Shinya No Ongakukai (Concert in the Midnight)”. It was used as the opening theme tune of the program.

He regularly serves as a jury in competitions of instrumentalists such as Japan Wind and Percussion Competition, Osaka International Chamber Music Competition, and All Japan Band Competition.

Hirano teaches at Tokyo University of the Arts, the Elizabeth University of Music, Senzoku College of Music, Toho College of Music and Habanera Academy in France.

In addition, Masataka Hirano is multilingual : native in Japanese and conversational in English, French.
